About high-ability

The high-ability discussion group has been set up for discussing issues relating to the education of able children.

high-ability is an open discussion group. This means that anyone with an interest in this area is welcome to participate in the discussions. All discussions will be publicly available and when you post a message, your email address will be visible to registered users.

All messages sent to high-ability are stored in a publicly available archive. Archives are provided as an additional resource to users and enables non members to browse the messages. The archive also means that you do not have to save every message you receive from this discussion group.

Using high-ability

To post a message to all the list members, send email to high-ability@lists.becta.org.uk.

You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to high-ability

Subscribe to high-ability by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.

An acceptable use policy has been established by Becta which members are expected to follow.

The details you provide on the registration form will be used only to supply you with the services you’ve selected. These details will be collected via email and stored electronically in a database in accordance with the current data protection legislation and as set out in Becta's privacy and data protection statement.

You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.

If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
