You may have already participated in the Inclusive Secondary Schools Project through our surveys of refugee community organisations, schools and local authorities and/or taken part in interviews. The information from all of these is being analysed in depth, and we already have identified key factors which will inform the next stage of the project. http://www.refugeecouncil.org.uk/howwehelp/lobbying/research-projects.htm#sc hools <http://www.refugeecouncil.org.uk/howwehelp/lobbying/research-projects.htm#s chools> We are now looking to recruit four partnerships, one in each of the four project regions - Eastern, London, West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humberside. Each partnership will consist of a school (or network of schools) and a refugee community/supporting organisation (or forums/networks of these groups) and will run for one year (April 2007 - March 2008). These partnerships will collaboratively develop ways of working with refugee and asylum seeking parents and carers, focussing on strategies to increase their participation in their children's education. Partnerships will receive seed funding and support from the project team. This is a developmental project and therefore we welcome applications from organisations or partnership who have little or no experience of working on these issues. However, only joint applications from schools and community organisations, will be accepted. If you are interested but would like help with identifying potential partners, please contact Calvin Armstrong on 0207 346 1162 calvin.armstrong at refugeecouncil.org.uk <mailto:calvin.armstrong at refugeecouncil.org.uk> You will need to access three key documents - Guidance Notes on the partnerships, Joint Application Form and a Summary of key issues raised in the research so far - in order to apply to become one of the partnerships. These are available from us directly, or from next week on the Refugee Council website. If you have any questions about this process, please contact Calvin or Lisa. (Please note that I am on annual leave from the afternoon of Friday the 2nd March until Thursday the 8th March). The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday the 23rd March 2007.
