I hope all EMA managers write to the BBc trust to ask for the restoration of these materials which no commercial publisher is ever likely to produce. I intend to get NATE to complain and i hope NALDIC does too! We have been developing for BBC Jam a number of EAL activities > embedded in DandT 11-14 and Science 7-9 (for all the UK) together with > Bengali, Somali and Urdu translations - both contextual dictionaries and > longer 'key concepts' with images and video. As you probably know, BBC > Jam has just been suspended by the BBC Trust (formerly Governors). > This means that as well as the existing material, which was ready to > go on > line when the service was suspended, further plans to develop EAL and > Bengali, Somali and Urdu translations for English, Maths and Science for > all age groups have also been frozen. I am told that if we highlight the > importance of the site for bilingual pupils there is a good chance that > at least that aspect, which the BBC call 'Community Language Support', > can be restored. Of course if the EAL and bilingual > materials are restored within the general BBC Jam curriculum content > then that will be of benefit to all pupils. > > BBC Trust Messages can be sent to trust.enquiries at bbc.co.uk > > Rob Leach > > ..
