Last chance to book on the Collaborative Learning Project workshop to translate and transliterate collaborative activities into first languages. So far we will have Bengali, Polish, Punjabi, Slovakian, Turkish and Yoruba booked for the workshop and both primary and secondary teachers are attending. All the details can be downloaded from; www.collaborativelearning.org/poster.pdf If you live in the London area and are concerned about making your pupils independent readers enjoying reading for pleasure then you might be interested in the next LATE evening session at the Institute of Education on 6th March. Details can be found at www.late.org.uk What is LATE? The London Association for Teaching English has been going for over 50 years and is a supportive network of teachers and teacher trainers working for both primary and secondary to share good practice and raise issues. It is a very EAL conscious group and many of the workshops are EAL oriented. LATE runs regular Saturday conferences which feature national speakers and attract 40 - 80 participants, regular evening sessions and a residential conference at Stoke Rochford in June. Everyone is welcome to attend. LATE is affiliated to NATE. Since I was involved in the development and dissemination of Partnership Teaching Project in 1989-90, I am interested in how this concept has embedded itself and maybe transmogrified itself as it has moved from Partnership Teaching to partnership teaching. If you are currently involved in and pleased with your partnership teaching work, I would be very pleased to hear from you so that I can begin to build up some case studies and start to write and little history of the project. Best wishes, Stuart Collaborative Learning Project, 17 Barford Street, London N1 0QB A network of teaching professionals developing and disseminating accessible talk-for-learning teaching materials in all subject areas and for all ages.
