Hi Frances I replied privately to Toni - this is what i wrote ---------------------- Hi Toni re your posting to EAL bilingual I don't know anything about computer packages but my CD ROM 'Racing to English' has over 150 activitiesfor staff to print out and use with beginner and intermediate learners. Most of the activities have at least one associated worksheet - I haven't counted the worksheets recently but ther are about 150 of them too. The activities are organised in 14 levels so are progressive - however, I don't think the students could just work through the worksheets - they would need some input on the activies first. ------------------ I also sent Toni a flier, but I can't attach one to EAL Bilingual emails - if you want the flier email me directly gordon.ward2000 at ntlworld.com cheers Gordon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bekhechi, Frances" <bekhechif at isb.be> To: "For practitioners involved in teaching pupils from ethnic and linguisticminorities" <eal-bilingual at lists.becta.org.uk> Sent: Thursday, February 07, 2008 4:32 PM Subject: RE: [eal-bilingual] Online English language learning softwareand/orworkbooks If anyone has suggestions, please respond to the whole group, as I'm sure many people would find the information very useful. In our school, we provide in-class support and encourage teachers to differentiate, but in the early stages they often cry out for help. Many thanks. Our EAL department lost its coordinator last year and her great expertise. I have been notified that we have some money left in our budget to be spent. I am looking at purchasing a computer English language package aimed at EAL students and I wondered if anyone here could recommend any from personal experience? We are also looking to see if such a thing as a students' workbook which has graded chapters in terms of difficulty (from beginners through to intermediate levels) which can be photocopied and given to students during their first few weeks here whilst our adminstration systems catch up with providing them with support. Many thanksToni Malone _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
