We are likely to be putting the R&J connect four www.collaborativelearning.org/romeoandjuliet.pdf into Polish at our workshop on Tuesday. Shakespeare is popular in schools in Poland and the Baltic States. There is also an activity on Great Expectations on the CLP site which could be translated but it may not be a priority at the moment. You might also consider drawing on E. European literature in the spirit on multicultural education. I have developed material on Blaumenis - some excellent short stories - when I worked with Latvian/Russian schools five years ago and have material in Latvian and English. Thanks - Ros Pegg -----Original Message----- From: eal-bilingual-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:eal-bilingual-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of David Rose Sent: 08 February 2008 13:14 To: eal-bilingual at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: [eal-bilingual] Romeo & Juliet in Polish Importance: High I am very grateful for the 2 replies to my previous message. I downloaded the materials and had them checked by our bi-lingual Polish TLA. The materials are excellent, but not appropriate for KS4 as much of the language is traditional literary Polish (equivalent to Shakespearian language), so a lot of it is unfamiliar to contemporary Polish speakers. Does anyone know of any sites or published resources which might be more appropriate for KS4?
