Article: [eal-bilingual] Training on the new community cohesion duty

I have recently developed a new course for Southwark's ethnic
minority achievement team on the new duty on schools to promote
community cohesion.

The course can be delivered as:

- a whole day session
- a half day or twilight session
- a one to one and half hour briefing session for school governing
bodies

Areas covered include:

- information on the new duty
- responding to issues in the school and local community
- the three areas of activity for responding to the duty: Teaching
and learning; equity and excellence; Engagement and extended services
- self-evaluating and auditing the school's effectiveness
- developing plans and policy
- useful guidance and resources

I can offer the course to other LEAs, schools and governing bodies.
If anyone is interested please email me at:

I can also provide sample programmes on request.
