Article: [eal-bilingual] Refugee Week 2008

Refugee Week is a major platform to promote the understanding of the
experiences of asylum seekers and refugees. It does this by hosting a
UK-wide programme of artistic, cultural and educational events, and
by celebrating the contribution of refugees to the UK. In 2007
between 450 and 500 events took place around the UK. This year, from
16th to 25th June, we are on a mission to make Refugee Week 2008 the
biggest and boldest one yet.

During Refugee Week, hundreds of events exploring refugee experiences
take place across the UK, ranging from big music festivals and art
exhibitions to political debates and community events. Events are
organised by anyone and everyone - charities, local governments,
refugee community organisations, schools, faith groups, arts
organisations and even you!

It’s our birthday…spread the word!

2008 is the 10th anniversary of Refugee Week and to celebrate the UK
team has produced a huge range of exciting Promotional Materials
including banners, balloons, full colour calendars and badges.

We have five fantastic T-shirt designs in different colours, sporting
quotes by Benjamin Zephaniah, Margaret Mead, Ian McEwan and Maya
Angelou. The T-shirts are made by American Apparel, a progressive LA
based company that guarantees sweatshop free products and who are
currently campaigning for immigration reform and speaking out for the
human rights of immigrants!

including logos, an image gallery and flash movie, 3 sticker designs
and 4 downloadable banners. The Downloadable Materials section also
includes 20 different poster designs so you can pick and choose
whatever image you want to represent your Refugee Week! All the
posters are designed to be printed off onto A4 paper and come in full
colour or black and white.
