[oats-sig] Connecting switches

I use joystick button 1 for my head switch.

My techie converted a normal interface box by inserting a socket for the switch. Saved me £££'s

  What are the common ways of connecting switches these days?
  Are parallel port or serial keys every used seeing they are pretty much legacy hardware now?
