Thank you Stephen , Steve & Simon for your replies and your useful links, I will check them out and try to learn Python as well as working on my C++/clr MFC project. In response to Stephen: I have simply been using Dragon preferred recently on a nice new laptop with vista (I wanted a challenge). Dragon has been very good (Dragon 9.5 preferred) for me and I have finally got used to it (there are some areas that don't work properly with vista). I had trouble with Internet Explorer so migrated to Firefox and am also using the mouse less browsing extension which speeds things up. In about a month or so when I get my neck collar off, I will also be using smartNav, an infrared tracking mouse pointer which is controlled using a reflective sticker on the forehead. I have found the combination of these two AT's proves very productive. I have an Intel S5000 sequence server with 2,3 GHz Woodcrest processors running Windows 2003 server as a host OS with Susie and Red Hat guest OSes, I access this by remote desktop from my laptop but I'm having trouble turning it on using magic packets, I think this is some bug in the bios (which I have to upgrade but there are complications), having worked for Intel I know how dodgy wake on LAN implementation can be. I have another similar server running Suse nine with a remote management module, which I can access directly from the laptop.
