this is pre-alpha stuff, so it is buggy beyond my control...

reading the instructions further down the page...
"amaya, batik or opera, recent builds only: other browsers may lack  
required features."

regarding the database, please also read the "requirements"

in brief: "the validator can only register conforming symbols. Symbols  
can be known as icon, pictogram, ideograph, isotype or hieroglyph."

openclipart registers urls of conforming symbols.
there is also a small repository: http://www.openicon.org/icon-ark
