and possibly sound and video may be available...

Opera recently announced support for <use> linking to external  
documents.
this sounds techy, but basically means that external symbols can be  
referenced and should make a huge difference, once Mozilla and Safari  
also adopt.

ie one can build and reference libraries of svg symbols, and the ccf  
concept begins to make sense on the web.
