Gary Bishop recently announced Outfox, a Firefox add on that lets web pages break out of the sandbox and use platform services like speech and sounds. It's aimed at helping firefox become a platform for accessibility, something we've discussed before here. Gary's post: http://wwwx.cs.unc.edu/~gb/wp/blog/2008/07/27/outfox-speech-sound-and-more-for-firefox/ The project page: http://code.google.com/p/outfox/ Peter Parente's has used it with Greasemonkey to announce Gmail mail arrivals http://mindtrove.info/outfoxing-gmail-with-greasemonkey/ Nice one Gary! -- Steve Lee Open Source Assistive Technology Software and Accessibility fullmeasure.co.uk |
