Article: [senco-forum] Clicker v Dragon

Clicker 5 has superceded Clicker 4 and is a vastly improved 'animal'.
Wordbar2 is excellent for a dyslexic who has adequate reading skills,
but if the 14 year old is a virtual non-reader, Clicker5 would be
preferable. There is a vast and growing bank of resources, with an
increasing number suitable for secondary use - some are freely
downloadable from www.clickergrids.com and others you need to purchase -
all can be tweaked to suit the user and new ones can be created.
Dragon Nat Speaking can be used for homework/coursework, but is not
suitable for use in a m/s classroom - it also requires training to the
user's voice, followed up with regular correction when it makes errors
Cheers

Dragon Naturally Speaking is a dictation package enabling users to
dictate
directly into text. Clicker 4 is a totally different thing altogther.

Clicker 4 enables the teacher to create grids of words, pictures, web
links,
sound and movie files which the learner can use in their work or for
their
work. For a 14 year old Wordbar is a much more appropriate package.
Works
in a similar way to Clicker 4 but is much more 'adult' in appearance and
can
hold banks of 100s of words and phrases.

Can someone tell me the difference between Clicker 4 and Dragon
naturally
Speaking and which would be best for a school to purchase for a 14year
old
severely dyslexic boy - for use at school.

Fiona
