Article: [senco-forum] Developing listening skills in secondary pupils-Eddie's CD

Eddie,

I said 'Your program is very useful in teaching children how to write down
what
they have already seen, heard and are familiar with, which can aid them in
learning how to take dication in principle for those that are unfamiliar
with it and have no learning difficulties to overcome, but which in real
terms means very little because real life doesn't work like that."

You replied:

"Contrary to what you write, the target group for this approach do indeed
have learning difficulties- on average they have reading deficits of about
two years and their general literacy skills are abysmal and their teachers
regard them as having poor listening skills.- I would have thought that this
was pretty solid evidence that they have considerable learning
difficulties"-

That was my point, that in my view it would NOT be beneficial for those with
difficulties just for those without difficulties for the reasojns I have
stated...if you are targetting listening difficulties, you need to simply work
on listening.

Best wishes,
Aly
