Thanks Aly. This is all useful stuff but I still don't know if all children with weak ASM also have weak auditory PROCESSING necessarily. You sent me in the last e-mail some ideas for training ASM, the sort of thing I'm used to using to help children with the weak ASM that characterises dyslexia and other familiar learning difficulties, but what about processing? How closely are the two tied? That's my real question. Do any of the EPs who listen in have anything to say on this please? I'd be very grateful, because as a teacher sometimes one has to work on skills that we cannot empirically measure, and I prefer to have some basis in scientific theory otherwise I fear there may be a better way to use the child's time. With thanks, Mary -----Original Message----- From: senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of Olanys at aol.com Sent: 30 August 2006 12:25 To: senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: Re: [senco-forum] Here's a Question This may help to explain the difficulties children with auditory processing may have because many of them are right brain dominant visual spatial learners. It also explains why the strategies mentioned here are similar to those I have found successful. In addition to auditory sequential teaching not suiting these children, it would seem that left brain teaching methods are also difficult for them to understand. Whether or not you believe in learning styles, this approach does work. _http://www.web-us.com/brain/LRBrain.html_ (http://www.web-us.com/brain/LRBrain.html) Best wishes, Aly Chair Auditory Processing Disorder in the UK/APDUK www.lacewingmultimedia.com/APD.htm www.apduk.org -- No virus found in this incoming message.
