Late in replying , but will add my situation, as it may help others to fight for more time. It always amazes me when this thread is raised that the amount of time SENCos have has no relationship to the number of children on SEN register! I think those with more time take a lot of responsibilty for things that might otherwise be done by the Head/secretary/class teacher. eg PSP meetings, organisation of meetings, writing and distribution of IEP, liasing with EP, phone calls to chase outside agencies, line management of TAs, timetabling. Or maybe those of you with little non contact time are super human and I'm just incredibly inefficient.... 200 on role primary school. SEN register 45, 6 statements . I work 2.75 days for school. mostly teaching groups/individuals. I have a little bit of admin time each week, no PPA and my filing mostly done by the office staff. I line manage 12 TAS, do Child Protection, G&T and am on SMT. I think in effect I am inclusion manager.( I also work a further 0.75 for the county as an AST) The thing that helps me most is coming off timetable for a week (2.75) at the end of half term. This means that i have more chance of keeping my groups going during the term and have a decent chunk of time to go at things at the end of term. Kate > > > > |
