Article: [senco-forum] Asperger's

Safe place in school - has got to be 'his room' and mustn't have 'busy'
walls - totally bland
He needs the right to decide when he needs to go there ie red card or
whatever that is just flashed and he goes ( I'm assuming LSA support
-should be one to one but if not LSA has to go with him anyrate)
Separately -as Mary said - need to identify triggers - and teach himto
identify his own triggers , and treat his identification as reasons to leave
ie valid

Apart from the above he need s to learn that he is in charge of his own
education - he has to learn how to do the self analysis etc as to what works
for him

But also needs to learn /understand what is socially acceptable evenif it is
against his gut instincts

Sorry not very helpful but how I would treat a year 7 that was gifted to me
! Barbara ht

I'm currently working with the EOTAS (Education Other than at School) Team.
We are gradually integrating an 8 year old boy back into a mainstream school
after he was permanently excluded from his previous school.

Unfortunately he 'blew' big time on Friday. I'm looking for tried and
tested ways of helping him deal with the anger before it gets out of
control, any ideas? Also has anyone got any tips of how to set up a safe
place for him to go in school to deal with his anger on his own. What sort
of boundaries do you impose i.e. how and when to leave the classroom etc

It's a tough time of the year with school routine often being disturbed
due to Christmas stuff going on so it is a bit of an uphill struggle!!

  many thanks

  Sue

I know there has been a thread regading additonal time in the new IT exam.

Sorry.....but does my memory serve me right that this can be up to 100%
additional time for SEN pupils?

Secondly, is 25% extra time the maximum at KS3 for English, Maths,
Science......someone mentioned it could be up to 33% if an additional
comprehension
test proved it necessary, but not sure this applies to KS3 SAT's, possibly
only
GCSE onwards??? any advise

Thanks.
