Thanks folks for all your very useful and practical tips re exit from classroom strategies and chill space for the young man I'm working with. The school has given him a chill out card which is working to some extent. Perhaps they will need to think about a place to go to that is clutter free. They are all receiving some AS training on Monday which shows they have a real desire to have this placement succeed. However, this time of year is so difficult. The routine is a bit disturbed. Groups out for this rehearsal and that, making Christmas decorations etc You can imagine the extra stimulation. Any advice on how you would normally deal with routine and what to do now ;-) ? My inclination is to have him back at home til the new year when things settle, he's blown several times with his new LSA as well as myself and the other EOTAS teacher who works with him. The LSA said she needed a stiff whisky after Friday, bless her!! best wishes Sue |
