Personally I enjoy the breadth of the forum. I joined as a new senco, frantically searching for help to get through the maze of IEPs, reviews etc. I ended up reading a much wider range of posts because I thought they sounded interesting, and have broadened my knowledge considerably as a result. I have found out about things I didnt even know existed, so couldnt have looked for on another forum! I have just become an Advanced skills Teacher for SEN and am relying on the forum to keep me up to date with any important new issues in SEN so that I wont look a complete idiot when I turn up at schools as a so called "expert" . I have also had the privelege of communicating with experts like Eddie, Brendan and many others, who are generous enough to spare time to repeat the same messages over and over again to each new batch of sencos who come onto the forum.(as well as those of us who need things repeated clearly and simply several times before we get it!) What I dont like is the personal criticisms occasionally posted. This puts me off posting, in case I get a similair response. I have to cope ( as many forummers do)with a certain amount of criticism and abuse at school from staff and pupils. I certainly dont want any more! By contrast the forum can be a wonderful source of support in times of stress. Kate B |
