Good question Rory -- we're falling back into the old failing of using unexplained jargon -- and lack of names is another one -- Brendan King

I became an AST several years ago. I am a non-class based SENCO and I think
my role in Barnet is fairly unique - I am involved in supporting and
training
new SENCOs (and sometimes those who are bot new but are struggling for
whatever reason)> I also do some work with Ta training and go round to
schools
delivering a training session on how teachers and TAs can work successfully
    together.
