That's is absolutely brilliant - how accurately can you establish which children will need the synthetic phonics course and what test do you use for this purpose? You should be banging your drum a good deal more loudly - it is possible that there is still someone at the DfEES with the odd brain cell still in tact - I know its unlikely but hope must spring eternal. 

I'm a great enthusiast for Synthetic Phonics but I'm not a fundamentalist and am therefore not in favour of using it with pupils whether they need it or not since those who do not need it would be bored out of their socks. This doesnt seem to bother the fundamentalists who appear to be blinded by a kind of 'synthetic phonics' for all mentality - whether it is useful for them or not.

What you're doing in your school will eventually be done in all schools - I have no doubt about that at all!
