Article: [senco-forum] billing for sen - independent schools

At my independent school all the girls who have spld lessons are billed
termly by the teacher directly. The teacher pays a notional fee to 'hire'
the classroom at the school, and opt in to the schools insurance.

Are there any legal beagles out there who could help please. What are
the legal implications if sen teachers bill parents direct for extra
lessons rather than have them added to the school bill and then the
school pays the teacher? Do they lose the protection of school
insurance and such like? Would we be more open to hassle from parents?
Do we therefore not have to answer to the SMT. I feel it is an
academic support so should all be done through the school. How do you
all do it in the independent sector please.
