Helen et al, I'm SENCo in a large 2dry, with a lot on the SEN register. I'm not a member of SMT, but will be high on the new TLR structure. A conscious choice... SMT have broader subjects to deal with (management), I deal with particular students, their needs, and how to implement those needs. This does have whole-school , as well as strategic implications. These I resolve through the relevant assistant, deputy or head teacher, all of whom are open to arguement. Another bonus of non-SMT status... I have time to plan, relax and recharge over the holidays, unlike 'those above'.
