  In some cases the DLA office gets in touch with the school rather than the parent asking for the reference directly- If teachers object to being involved cannot this not be stated on the form (or school policy)so that the DLA and parents know where they stand?
   
  Look outside the box re the child who isn't "deserving " of DLA .With that money the parent can help the child : which ultimately helps the teacher and the school.Whether its to buy the books that help understand disorder's or if it pays for private treatment / therapy , or just to ease the financial pressure .
