Personally I feel I've got nothing to hide. But still I won't directly name (and shame) the schools or other institutions I've worked in ...not unless I've got hard evidence to back this up and I'm prepared to take the consequences of being a whistle blower. However on occasion I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for people who still work in the places I've written about to figure out I was in fact referring to them. Overall I guess the sensible answer is not to directly identify your own school in posts that are in any way critical of them. One reason why this works so well is because schools do not want to risk confirming in public it was in actual fact them you were referring to. In any case I suspect the 'Governor' who wrote the anonymous response is now reeling from the fact this has obviously backfired completely!!! Another way around the dilemma of dealing with sensitive issues is to refer instead to "a colleague" or "a friend" in "another school" whom you are "trying to help". I've known several other list members use this approach. In personal (off list) replies one can of course reveal to trusted individuals the reality that the "colleague" or "friend" is actually oneself. Hope this is helpful.
