Perhaps this might be helpful. Effective leadership: Ensuring the progress of pupils with SEN and or disabilities. (DfES) This document contains three sections that highlight how to: Use data to track and monitor pupils progress. This includes information on reviewing prior attainment and progress, to identify groups or individuals who are not making expected levels of progress. Data collated should include that on attendance and exclusion. Manage the deployment of additional adults through examining main areas of investigation to promote reflection on effectiveness. Review other areas of school improvement in relation to the progress of pupils with SEN and or disabilities. A useful self evaluation checklist is included within the appendix that targets the above areas. Our response that it is difficult to be hard and fast - depends on the nature of the child, type and extent of the difficulty, type and amount of support offered etc was grudgingly accepted, but they wondered if there were any national benchmarks that they could use to draw comparisons. Does anyone work with any numbers/rates of improvement etc in mind? We use improvements in reading and spelling ages, plus KS3 /GCSE results against target grades and results of any intervention groups for our report. What figures/data do other SENCos generally present to their SLT? Many Thanks Pearl Daniel _________________________________________________________________ Be the first to hear what's new at MSN - sign up to our free newsletters! http://www.msn.co.uk/newsletters |
