Talk to Patoss? What about? They have nothing to do with exam regs as far as I am aware. Or are you looking for someone to act as the reader? You aren't allowed to have the subject teacher of the child acting as reader and we also don't allow the LSA who usually works with that child in that subject area either. Hopefully the exam board clarified this all for you. Just intrigued about what the Patoss input is supposed to be? The following is from the JCQ regs: <<A reader is a responsible adult who reads the questions to the candidate. This may involve reading the whole paper to the candidate or the candidate may request only some words to be read.>> <<The reader should not normally be the candidate's own subject teacher. On no account may a relative, friend or peer of the candidate be used as a reader.>> Sharon F. -----Original Message----- From: Stuart Lucas [mailto:lucass at loretto.com] Sent: 01 November 2006 15:11 To: Sharon Fawcitt Subject: RE: [senco-forum] Maths - reader for Exam Access Arrangements Many thanks - Just given them a call - was going to! Had a nice wee chat and then they recommend I talk to PATOSS - fair enough. Sorry, I don't have the answer, but I know a man/woman who does. I'm not at school at the moment - but we have also discussed this and the LSAs who do it would know, but they're not with me at home!!) Sharon F. -----Original Message----- From: senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of Stuart Lucas Sent: 01 November 2006 14:06 To: senco forum Subject: [senco-forum] Maths - reader for Exam Access Arrangements Query - When a pupil has a reader for Maths - Does the reader: a. read both text and numbers/formulas - or b. read text only. The reason is that our Maths dept state that having a maths teacher as a reader will give an advantage to the pupil and hence is querying who should be a reader at AS level. Tks for all assistance.
