We get a large number of incomers to our 6th form -those with sen we circulate mini profiles to to their teaching staff, the remainder we make the assumptiion that teaching staff read the sen register - we keep all their names on it until they actually leave - although some we may circulate again as their needs may have changed. Obviously if a specific problem arises we then make point of ensuring that any one with contact with pupil has info. Maybe written or maybe by seeking out staff concerned. If they're having active intervention we document it but we don't write IEPs - with 400 or so on register our lives are too short for that! Ie we play it by ear ! I've had some before but only one boy with a statement and one for exam concesions (dyslexic). Now I have arthritis, dyspraxia, dyslexia, Asperger's etc and some still have active outside advice. Does out remit as a SENCO actually go into the sixth form - I always thought the code of practice was up to 16. Do any of you write IEPs for sixth formers as it seems a bit inappropriate with my lot. Just wondering Thanks Janice :)Janice WraySecondary SENCO, Herts _________________________________________________________________ Be one of the first to try Windows Live Mail. http://ideas.live.com/programpage.aspx?versionId=5d21c51a-b161-4314-9b0e-491 1fb2b2e6d |
