Dear Janice,
       I support sixth formers; I tend to 'lose' most of the kids I've taught at GCSE when they go onto A levels mainly because they chose the subjects they like/are better at and  don't need the same level of support. Some of these drift back when the pressure starts to increase and may or may not drift away again - as they choose. I sometimes acquire completely new students - often ones who have come to us from other schools and need help and sometimes kids who have been in our school but have coped up to GCSE but at A level the cracks begin to appear. I sometimes put on small group revision/exam technique sessions for those who I teach and 'invite' others to come along - say for 4-5 weeks, making it clear that it's not a life sentence. I tend to do an A4 sheet oentitled Learner Profile rather than an IEP for all my students so I just keep this up to date for sixth formers and make a new one up for any new pupils. I make sure their teachers are aware of any difficulties -
 not always necessary as this is probably how they got to me in the first place.

Does out remit as a SENCO actually go into the sixth form - I always thought the code of practice was up to 16.
Do any of you write IEPs for sixth formers as it seems a bit inappropriate with my lot.
