Hello Anusia As I understand it, there are six ways in which you can differentiate work By task - do something different By resource - eg provide writing frames By content - eg same task, different readability level By outcome - same content, same task, assess what they have done By response - oral, written, drawn By support - see if they can do it with help There's not much I'd recommend from my LA website that I've not found explained elsewhere but I think this is as succinct as anything I've seen. http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/cypf/media/pdf/8/q/Part_5__Meeting_Individual_Needs.pdf As for trying to get people to do it when it is easier to just differentiate by outcome - well, it makes pupils more successful! Once you have the materials in place, you can use them again. And a different response (eg draw a picture of the main character which must fit with the book) can actually be easier to assess than traditional written outcomes. Hope this helps. I feel this could be a real opportunity to change some of the thinking still present about differentiation "by outcome" being the only way not to overload teachers. I know this is a vague and wide topic, but would be very grateful for any ideas which could be suitable from R to Y6! Many thanks. Anusia Primary SENCO Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall |
