Sounding it out on a balloon helps. Get the student to draw a bee and b B,cursive b's all over the balloon and sound it out. B really does buzz. Remember this was a b/p problem initially - much closer mouth shape. Still the same - only teach one letter. I teach the one that causes the most confusion (i.e. they use one letter to represent both letters whether b/p or b/d). As am aside - I have yet to figure out if this problem is linked to left/right handedness. I currently have a left handed boy working on 'd' and a right handed boy working on 'b'.
