Article: [senco-forum] Accelerated Reader

The thing with it is that you are reading normal texts, not ones designed
for SpLD/ relucatnt readers. In the USA where it is used in 60,000 schools,
they have 40 minute supervised daily sessions! At the reading day the
Guardian put on, the feedback was that it was very expensive and children
just skimmed for the answers to the multiple choice questions.
I'm sure the hamburger voucher rewards were a great incentive in the USA!
Best wishes

Does anyone have experience of using 'Accelerated Reader' ? We are
particularly interested in claims that it can motivate and have impact in
PRU/ EBD settings.
