Welcome to the forum - which will be quite quiet this week due to half term. Sounds like you've done an awful lot in one year. Keep the evidence! At my last OfSTED, last March amongst other things they wanted to know/see - how I identified the pupils with SEN how effectivew our links with parents were how I tracked them How I met their needs and how I monitored progress/effectiveness how i knew the tAs were effective what training and qulalifications they had and how I knew if the training they had had was effective! Hello, I am new to the forum and look forward to sharing and gaining a great deal from your vast experience. September 2005 I was made SENCo of a large primary school. What a hectic 12 months I had getting to grips with the role. Previous to this I had provided leaning support within the school part time. I have taught every year group in the school over 28 years and am at present spending one day per week teaching Reception. This has turned out to be quite useful for early identification of SEN. My role has evolved to become Inclusion Manager this year, with a team of HLTAs and Inclusion Support TAs to support. This has added considerably to my work-load. Ofsted are likely to make the call in the near future and I wonder what they will expect from me at this early stage in developing my role. So far I have carried out an audit to identify additional needs / barriers to learning and used assessments to identify under-achievement. I have produced a draft copy of a whole school provision map and set up intervention groups including Salley, Nurture/ social skills groups, anger management, fine motor skills, ABC (ATTENTION, BALANCE CO-ORDINATION ) group programme. From this I have produced passports to learning detailing provision for individual pupils at School Action. I continue to produce IEPS for pupils at School Action Plus and those with Statements. I recently held Reviews for pupils at School Action Plus during Parent's Evening. At the same time I have been busy keeping on top of my SENCo responsibility, which is a huge task on its own. One area which I really haven't had time for is getting into classrooms to carry out observations of first level teaching, but hope to move onto this next half term. I have produced Inclusion folders for staff including articles from Special Ed of interest to staff, information on identification of SEN etc. On top of this I am responsible for Child Protection, so have lots of cases on the boil at present, with CP conferences and core group meetings on a regular basis. Please advise on how you feel this will go down with Ofsted. Many thanks Gillian Ps I don't know how I get time to eat and sleep!!! -- No virus found in this incoming message.
