Article: [senco-forum] Practical ideas

Hi Mags

Thanks for the comments. Better put me money where me big mouth is!!

Have you tried putting the names of those two books into Amazon and seeing what people who viewed those books also looked at? I just did that with Time to
Talk because I don't know it and I thought the list looked very useful.

My favourites at the moment include Madeline Portwood's book (nearest thing to a magic wand I have ever come across) and these two:

Towards Successful Learning: Introducing a Model for Supporting and Guiding Successful Learning and Teaching in Schools (Paperback) by Diana Pardoe which is really practical for teachers working with whole classes on the Assessment for Learning Agenda.

Assessing Pupils' Performance Using the P Levels (Paperback) by Val Davis and Di Buck is really useful for people like me who don't know a P8 from a Level 1 because we see them so rarely. Does English and maths.

  Ok
have read all of the previous postings. Agree with you Amanda. Well done!
Now back to the practical ideas.
I'm still working within the 3-5 age range & like to give SenCo's a range of practical ideas to help their children with EBD & SEN (Am an advisory teacher which I know some of you know, previously a SenCo) At the moment both the Madelaine Portwood (Dysphraxia) book and Time to Talk are 2 SenCo's current favourites as they can be handed to their (very knowledgeable) TA's who then implement parts of the program in discussions with the teacher / SenCo.
Is anyone else coming across other books at the moment that give step by step program ideas for any areas of SEN? Ready, Steady, Go is also a hit with those who need more attachment work at a young age as is some parts of hop, skip, jump for PE.
Would be grateful for more ideas (as always)
Oh, by the way. Have recommended this site to quite a few SenCo's to get practical ideas from and solve problems. That's how useful I've found it
Cheers
Mags
