[senco-forum] Doctor of Education

If it were me, I'd research the impact fantasy tabletop wargames has on
enabling ASD pupils to access the curriculum.  But it's not - so what would
other forummers do?

  What about more pupil user friendly IEP's?  We've started using makaton
pictures to show children their targets once they have agreed them with
younger children (A leaf out of our local SEN school's book.)  the other
services have got the children to design their own IEP's with relevant
targets when they are ready for this.  Much more ownership from them.
they've also developed their own target sheets.  One child is busy building
a lego car (gets a brick each time he gets his target.  Has designed the car
himself & owrked out what bricks he needs etc.  Is brilliant at DT, not so
good at EBD)  Another child is making a skeleton which is put together with
split pins & a 3rd is just colouring a balloon in each time she achieves her
daily target as she just likes colouring.  They seem to be alot more
motivated as the ball is in their court.  They also came up with the idea
(as in .. why can't I decide on my own what I want to be better at than you
telling me linked to that
 funny folder beginning with C and ending in urricullum.. Ok this was
slightly more polite than the words they used but I am aware that swear
words are not allowed on the forum.)
  Fair dues I thought.  At this rate I'll be out of a job!

I haven't quite established what i plan to do it on - but I have an idea
about looking at the value and effectiveness of IEPs and of ways of
monitoring
and measuring targets.

Any advice, suggestions etc gratefully received.
