Hello Anne, Graeme, Mike and the rest of the Forum I must say I agree with Anne. I am a computer user. I do what I can do. The great thing about the Forum is this: you sign up, you get posts, you read them. Nothing complicated at this level. To post you just send something to the Forum and it appears. I'm with Anne - I didn't follow what Graeme meant about notice boards. Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall Peter Syme <APAHSyme at compuserve.com> wrote: Hi Graeme Thanks for the reply. My fear is the technical skill and computer knowledge needed to operate in a different way will cause less techie folk ( like me) to stop using the forum. I am afraid I did not fully understand even the info in this posting of yours. My problem I know ... but ,whatever you think may be alternatives, in its present format senco-forum is very easy to use . Senco-forum members are not all technical wizards. I accept this is just one viewpoint t but I just wanted to mention it. A couple of years ago when I made a similar point on the same sort of topic I got a few very nasty off-forum replies telling me thet I was stupid etc for not wanting the forum to change. It took me a long time to reply publicly to anything remotely controversial again. It shocked and saddened me that someone could be so critical of a fellow member just because I mentioned I didn't understand a few minor techie things. I won't go into any more detail as ir was quite a while ago. However, I appreciate you reply because it is trying to be helpful ... even though I still disagree with you on this point Cheers Anne Message text written by "dolfrog" >Hi Anne We both have different preferences of presentation, and others will also have their own ideas on this topic as well. This could be a solution, but could also be in the realms of technical fantasy. If I start with my basic preference for a bulletin board form of presentation that provides me with a visual division and subdivision of the all the topics that can be covered on the forum, some of which relate to SEN issues of a wide variation. Many of the Bulletin Boards, I visited ask you if you wish to receive an email for all replies to a thread you are interested in or you started. This is for the technical wizards "Is it possible for any or all posts entered on a bulletin board to also be sent to a corresponding or parallel Mailing List, or mailing list Digest of the days posts". The basic entry option or one of many options presented at the point of registration, say to offer both access to the bulletin board and have all posts emailed to you. All members can then select from a range of distribution options to match their own preferences. >From a historical reference of some of the great contributions say in a topic of my own interest like dyslexia would be on a Dyslexia board probably in a Learning Disabilities category (Although I would dispute that dyslexia is a disability in its own right lol) would be more readily accessible for both new and old members, and some of the research visitors to the archives. May be pure whimsy Best wishes Graeme dolfrog dolfrog at apduk.org< Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall |
