There was a character on Big Brother a ittle while ago who always referred to himself in the third person - can't remember his name - and so one of our Yr 11 boys was doing the same thing - Zik did this and Zik did that......................very similar to what you are saying. Is she just picking up on this - does she watch Big Brother ? I find that many of the fads and fancies come from these programmes on TV and I have tried really hard to watch at leat one of them - once - but I really find it so awful - I ought to though as these are the programmes our children at school watch - and our own children too !!! You ask your 30 year old children what they watch - Love Island - Big Brother etc - and these are clever people with important jobs.
Ask her what she watches on TVJanice WraySecondary SENCO, Herts

I have just been speaking with the concerned parent of a highly intelligent year 10 student who has started to refer to herself in the third person e.g 'Ellie would like to go to the shops', 'Yes, Ellie would be quite happy to do such and such' etc. Also, when, for example she loses something, she walks around the house asking herself questions such as 'if I were a tapemeasure where would I like to go?', or 'If I were a spoon what would I most like to be doing at this moment?'> > Mother is rather concerned because this way of speaking is most unusual for her daughter. Anybody ever come acroos this sort of thing? > Janet
