[senco-forum] TA minimum qualifications

Hope this helps....after taking early retirement I now teach prospective  TAs 
in the local college. The qualification is the NVQ3 Teaching Assistant  
qualification .
 It is quite intensive and covers all aspects of school life, classes  and 
situations .  The students have to produce a hefty portfolio and also  have to 
have 6 hours a week inschool experience for a minimum of 30  weeks.
The NVQ3 is now the qualification that most authorities recognise as the  
minimum for a TA. The old NNEB is generally recognised for preschool , nursery  
and playgroups, although established TAs with this qualification are still in  
employment.
