Article: [senco-forum] CRB checks

Hi Pam
I think schools will grind to a halt if that is the case. I was recently appointed as a staff governor and it took four weeks for my clearance to come through. I'm sure most schools appoint a TA on day 1 and need them in the classroom with the pupil on day 2 or the pupil can't learn effectively!

I presume you mean new appointees?

Funnily enough I have been in touch with our HR today regarding CRBs. Their
advice used to be that we could employ people awaiting checks as long as
they had the satisfactory 2 references, and they were not left on their own
with pupils. The advice now is that for all employess and volunteers they
should not be in school at all until the check is completed satisfactorily.

Hope this helps

Pam

What do you all do with teaching assistants between appointment and CRB
checks to coming though?
Does anyone know the legal situation? Does anyone have any views on good
practice?

Many thanks for comments on sixth formers
Felicity
