Article: [senco-forum] narcolepsy

We have a boy who has narcolepsy and catalepsy. When he goes to sleep we
ensure he is safe and leave him if he is - at a desk or something, when
he goes to sleep in the corridor we leave someone with him if it is
during lesson time (corridors empty) but if it is lesson change or he
goes to sleep on the stairs we move him but don't try to wake him. He
is a dead weight to move and needs at least two strong people! Only a
problem is if he goes into cataleptic (coma like) state we monitor
closely and have to get an ambulance if he sleeps more than an hour.

Any help?

Barbara

I do have an information sheet for teachers, I think, if you want it.

 Hi all,
Hope you are all settling back into the grind, sorry joy of school.
We have a male student with Narcolepsy. I have been asked to find out if
we should wake him when he falls asleep in lessons or leave him to wake
up naturally. I have visited several web sites on the condition and this
question does not seem to have been answered, I may have just missed it.
As this site is the font of all knowledge I thought someone will know,
if not could direct me to someone who does.
Thanks in atticipation.
