If everyone complains to the jcq then they may reconsider this deadline. So PLEASE everyone, complain. I have! And they did say if enough people complained they would look at it again. It's meaning I'm working hours of my time off (I'm part-time anyway) in order to collate information to complete the forms. Ridiculous!! Sharon -----Original Message----- From: senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of Amanda Sent: 17 September 2006 18:03 To: senco-forum Subject: [senco-forum] access arrangements Hello everyone It is now September 17th. We have been back at school for nine school days. September 30th is ten school days away. I teach for 19 out of 30 lessons a week. This leaves 11 x 50 minutes a week to be a SENCO. I spent most of that time last week trying to test Year 10 pupils so they can have readers in their November science GCSE modular tests. I have to get someone else to re-test them all. I only test them first so I don't waste her time and our money. I am going to ask my Headteacher to tell the exam board in the strongest possible terms that we are going to be discriminating against pupils because of their disability because we are not going to be able to test them, fill in the forms and get the forms to the board by the deadline given. Yes, I know that the DDA doesn't apply to qualifications until next year but it is discrimination. It is reassuring to know that I'm not the only person who is feeling that this is all too much - but that's not much help. I should be spending much more energy on ensuring my new year 7s are settling in! Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall |
