Richard -----Original Message----- From: senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk]On Behalf Of Olanys at aol.com Sent: 19 April 2007 23:19 To: senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: Re: [senco-forum] KS2 to 3 transition (was Help for Y6 childworkingbelow L3) "In a very short time the Head would be inundated with complaints that the school was failing to meet their child's needs (probably supported by Parent Partnership and other charitable organisations). " And they would be accurate. Why should these issues be hidden? Why shouldn't parents know how and why their children are being failed? " The SENCO would be required to answer for the lack of support - not the class teacher as it is our responsibility to co-ordinate SEN provision. Most importantly the child would suffer for the lack of support, differentiation etc." There you have it, that's where the buck stops then. Is that why SENCOs don't pursue this with the vigour it merits? "Change does not come easily or quickly." But how many children must be sacrificed while you wait? Change won't come at all while these people are protected by closing ranks. In any other profession, such inefficiency would lead to dismissal. Surely the aim of a SENCO is to help the children, not protect their colleagues...at lesst that's what parents are led to believe Best wishes, Aly Chair Auditory Processing Disorder in the UK/APDUK www.lacewingmultimedia.com/APD.htm www.apduk.org -- No virus found in this incoming message.
