Article: [senco-forum] 4th percentile

Hello everybody,
I am new to the forum and have just been following the various interesting threads for the past few weeks. I'm not strictly a SENCO as I work in an FE College and we don't have a SENCO - although we desperately need one. My colleague and I who coordinate and deliver the dyslexia support, tend to act as one, however, as 'problems' are directed to our door. Things are going to change next year as we have a new vice principal in place who is currently reviewing and planning great things.... I'd be very interested to hear from anybody else working in dyslexia support in an FE College and to find out what support is available to students who might be dyspraxic, dyscalculic, have ADHD, etc.

I also felt that some clarification was still needed about the fourth percentile. The way it was first explained to me was that if you took 100 peers (i.e. same year group), a student with a percentile score of 4 would mean that 96% of the peers would score above that student and 3% below.

The Dyslexia Institute (now Dyslexia Action) used to use centile rather than percentile, but it means the same thing.
