>>>Assuming that the point is nothing <<< >>>at all to do with the language <<< >>>of extreme irony or sarcasm,<<< *No*, gosh no, sorry Mike, I sincerely hope I don't present as extremely ironical, sarcastic or even cynical when referring to my own inner beingness. *This* debate is just too near one's emotional centre.....I am one. I am also the parent of one. >>>I'm sorry John, but I find myself<<< >>> unable to see your point.<<< My point is that within the dyslexic community I am a happy labelleer - as many of us are. ie Not all of us wish to be otherwise. Just as others within the community do not ever wish to be so. ie That there are the two equally heartfelt sides. When one has been called "oh, one of them" then one in one's lostness usually goes either of those two ways, or one joins the deniers. But in the dyslexia community one must take in the three outlooks. That was my point. Judith put it far better and more dispassionately. Thanks. (This bit *not serious*.... I am told I'm an old time eccentric also a fully paid up member of the awkward squad. It's when I grow up I wanna be an ironic sarcasticist! < VBG >) I would add, serious once more, that it is a mistake to 'grade' dyslexics within their dyslexia .... there are times when we all need the full monty of help. (And semi-seriously...yep, that marks me as a disable-ist and not one one of "the gift of dyslexia-ists".) Please remember, I am talking as a adult dyslexic about dyslexia. We must all be mad, this is hols. John |
