My understanding of the CAF is that the kinds of things we would expect to
be part of an SEN assessment - including the Formal Assessment - should
only be part of a CAF if there is work being done by agencies which seem
likely to lead towards  "child in need" status - which is not necessarily
the case for Statementing and the preceding levels of SEN procedures.

We have some new guidance here so I will have a look to see if things have
changed - I would be very surprised!
