We have this and have used some of the resources. I don't like the flashcards much, but staff like the way the whole course is set out: simple and user friendly. Ours never did, in the schools I was in and they never do that in the school where my husband is a governor. Sometimes, new governors take a while to get used to the fact that, as individual governors, they have no power at all; any power resides in the Governing Body as an entity. Both my husband and I have experienced several people who have been full of what they were going to get teachers and schools to do; they eventually learned exactly what was possible and what was not! Also moving to coursework - SEN friendly coursework guides - again departmental reps - who each produced a new GCSE - and then Yr 9 guide. Working with each dept to get proper - subject specific word lists for every unit - again we had one member of each dept - and once you had been the sen person on one task it was time for another person to get a large SEN input. And what happened from these things? It was also prof development for others - AND staff found out that was was good for SEN was good for an awful lot of other people too. How about some nice SEN visits for you - to other schools - to your pyramid - or whatever - or a course - or a SENCo conference - Fil Cames are outstandingly good - and then you could cascade all that back into school. Find something enjoyable that grabs you - too much of prof development is boring at times - when I think of what I have been offered over the years. Our EP seems hooked on them and we feel that we are unlikely to get anywhere with EP support for some of our least able children unless we use them. Any comments would be gratefully received. Thanks. It was suggested I try installing the screener on a Windows 2000 machine, however we haven't had one of those for a v long time. I asked when it would be upgraded but they did not know as yet.
