[senco-forum] Re: American and English school years

    My daughter is exactly the same age as the kids of a group of my
internet friends in the US (all born Aug 99).

   When mine started Reception (at 4 years and 1 week old) they were all
still in pre-school (full or 1/2 day).

   When mine started Year 1 half of them were starting Kindergarten BUT the
   other half chose to wait a year as they did not want their kids to be the
   youngest in the classes or they were not developmentally ready for
school.
   There seems to be flexibility in start dates even within states as 2 of
the
   US kids live in the same state and they started school a year apart
(exact
   same age as above).

   So now mine is in year 4 and some of them are in 3rd grade and some still
in
   2nd !
