Most of my role as a special needs support assistant
was presenting the information that the teacher
delivered in a way that the child/children understood.
This is catering for individual learing styles. It is
sad that such children in many cases would have been
able to cope alone, if the information had been
presented to them in the right way (for them) by the
teacher. This is the way I teach my son, who was
totally disabled by the school system but is extremely
able to access learning at home, when presented in the
way he needs. One to one would not be necessary for a
lot of children, but in school my son would need one
to one all day every day. These children are being
isolated by learning differences and the indifference
aand reluctance of the education system to cater for
the individual. This is not a whim but an educational
need for many children, who only have learning
difficulties when their learning differences are not addressed.
Best wishes,
Aly
