Brian, Just because a school cannot find a way to help a child doesn't mean they can give up, chuck him/her out and pass the responsibility on to someone else. If a child is failing it is usually because they are being failed by someone, something or a combination of the above. When, why or how does a child become a pariah? Interesting question. Any answers? I know that there are those for whom school will never work so other solutions must be found but it's usually a case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater... alternative measures should not be seen as a shame on the child.
